Coalcliff just south of Syndey is a very good right-hand reef break with the occasional left-hander, The right is the go here;Â a decent sucky right which is a bit shorter than the left. Loves any swell with east in it but prefers a dead East. The waves here require a bit of surf skill and can break for up to 100 meters, providing fun sections for manoeuvres. The beaches get good too, also need east swell to the work well.

Gets good between head-high to overhead. We recommend riding your standard shortboard here. Coalcliff Reef on Sydney’s Southern Beaches is best suited to intermediate to advanced surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and can get busy (5/10). The best winds for Coalcliff Reef are Southwest. The best swell direction is from the Northeast.
