Austinmer works best in small peaky swells from the north. It doesn’t hold a big size at all but can dish up some summer beach break fun waves in light winds. During the winter south swells there can be a good right-hander at the southern end of the beach, but again, these swells need to be fairly small.

Gets good between head-high to overhead. We recommend riding your longboard or standard shortboard here. Austinmer Beach on Sydney’s Southern Beaches is best suited to beginner to advanced surfers.
