Located in Northern Morocco, Mehdya Plage is a fun right-hand jetty break that offers up some good sections for manoeuvres. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf and break for up to 150 meters over a sand bottom. There are a couple of other waves here: A left at the North Jetty, a left at the rivermouth, and some good beach break in town. This is the cradle of surfing in Morocco, first surfed by Americans from the military base nearby.
What are the best surf conditions for Mehdya Plage?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will usually have a pack on it (7/10). The best swells are from the North, Northwest, and West. The best winds are from the Southeast. Works on mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 21 degrees. In the winter a 3/2 is good for the 18-degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
