Located in Central Morocco, Safi is an absolute world-class right-point break that offers up fast, long and throaty barrels. The waves here are powerful, don’t handle this wave lightly, and break for up to 300 meters over a sand bottom. This spot was secret for a very long time and still has a bit of a reputation for localism, although those rumors are disappearing while the crowds are increasing.
What are the best surf conditions for Safi?
Gets good between waist-high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here if smaller and a shortboard or step up as the size increases. This spot is best suited to intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here does not break very often (3/10) and is still very crowded (8/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the North, Northwest, Southwest, and West. Works on low tide only.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 21 degrees. In the winter a 3/2 is good for the 18-degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
