Located in the Thaa and Laamu Atolls in the Indian Ocean, Machine is an excellent right hand reef set up that offers up long barreling waves. The waves here can be challenging and break for up to 100 meters over a coral reef. This spot needs a big enough swell to wrap around, so check it on the bigger ones.
What are the best surf conditions for Machine?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here is not the most consistent (4/10) and will not be crowded (3/10). The best winds are from the West. The best swells are from the South and Southeast. Works on all tides but on the push is best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year round as water temperatures range between 30 and 28. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
