Located in Mar del Plata, Argentina, Luna Roja is a fun left-hand reef break that offers up some fun, rippable, and easygoing surf. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a rock and sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Luna Roja?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard, shortboard or a step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will get busy at peak times (5/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the Southeast. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 21 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temperatures drop to 10 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
