Located in Mar del Plata, Argentina, Las Cuevas is a small bay home to a left and right reef at either end and some good beach break in the middle. The breaks are high-performance based and the right reef will get hollow. The waves here require some skill to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a rock or sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Las Cuevas?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will always have a crew (7/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the East, Northeast, South, and Southeast. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 21 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temperatures drop to 10 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
