Located in Sutherland, Scotland, Torrisdale is a fun beach break that offers up some great sections for manoeuvres as well as zippy barrels in front of the river mouth. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Torrisdale?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the South. The best swells are from the North, Northeast, Northwest, and West. Works on a low to mid tide best at the river mouth, but all tides will work at some spot on the beach.
We recommend wearing a 5/4 here year-round. Water temps rise to 13 degrees in July before dropping to 7 in the winter. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
