Located in Sutherland, Scotland, Armadale Bay is not a bad beach break that offers up some good sections for manoeuvres when the conditions line up. The waves here are not always easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom. Gets chaotic when bigger.
What are the best surf conditions for Armadale?
Gets good between waist-high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will generally be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the South. The best swells are from the North, Northeast, Northwest, and West. Works on a low to mid-tide best.
We recommend wearing a 5/4 year-round. In the summer water temperatures rise to 13 degrees. In the winter the water temperatures drop to 7 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
