Located in Sutherland, Scotland, Durness is a good beach break that offers up some good sections for performance manoeuvres when the conditions line up. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom. Can handle a little bit of North wind.
What are the best surf conditions for Durness?
Gets good between waist-high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is somewhat consistent (4/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the Northwest and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 5/4 year-round. In the summer water temperatures rise to 13 degrees. In the winter the water temperatures drop to 7 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
