Located on the South Coast of New South Wales, Black Point is a fun reef that breaks over a rock and sand bottom. The waves here require a bit of skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters providing some sick barrels when on. Bring a step up and your paddling chops.
What are the best surf conditions for Black Point?
Gets good from waist high to triple overhead. A longboard will work fine here when smaller and a shortboard or step up is good when big. Black Point is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and can get super crowded when good (9/10). The best winds are offshore from the Northwest. The best swells come from the East, Northeast, South, and Southeast. Works best on a mid to high tide.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temps rise to 21 degrees. In the winter a 3/2 wetsuit is good in the 16 degree water. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
