Located in Costa Verde, Peru, Pampilla is a fun beach break that offers up some rippable sections when the right swells arrive. The waves here can be challenging to surf and break for up to 150 meters (about 492 feet) over a boulder and sand bottom. The norm here is rolling peaks and gentle shoulders.
What are the best surf conditions for Pampilla?
Pampilla gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller or bigger and a shortboard only at size. The waves here are suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will generally have a crew on it (7/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South and Southwest. Works on all tides when bigger and a low to mid tide when smaller.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in the summers when water temperatures rise to 22°C (about 72°F). In the winter, a 3/2 wetsuit is best when water temperatures drop to 16°C (about 61°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
