Located in Costa Verde, Peru, Laniakea is a fun right-hand reef break that offers up some rippable sections for the crowds from Lima. The waves here can be challenging and break for up to 100 meters (about 328 feet) over a boulder-covered bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Laniakea?
Laniakea gets good between waist-high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will get crowded (7/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Northwest, South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 22°C (about 72°F). In the winter, a 3/2 wetsuit is best when water temperatures drop to 16°C (about 61°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
