The Jiwa Surf Charter was newly built in 2011 and after pioneering some world-class isolated and uncrowded breaks on her maiden voyage, has set out to specialize in just that. The crew prides themselves on delivering you from average crowded frustration to pristine treasures at the end of the rainbow. Offering the most awesome surfing experiences around the North Sumatran regions of the Banyaks and Nias, The Jiwa ventures as far as the remote Mulukus. She is a 23 meter twin-masted hardwood hull traditional Phinisi vessel built from the finest ironwood with full length beams and double keel. The 6-cylinder diesel engine pushes her at a decent 7.5 knots. If the winds is good, then the sails are set for maximum cruising.
Split into three levels, the top deck is for lounging on the bean bags, mattresses, and low set coffee tables. The foredeck is covered with a shady canopy and also has a table and further seating. The entertainment area and saloon is towards the stern, with TV/DVD, a bar, the large dining table, and couches along each side. The saloon offers a comfortable retreat from the sun and plenty of room to stretch out. Below decks is the kitchen, supplies, and the air conditioned living quarters with 10 beds and 2 bathrooms.
Mealtime on board is an affair of both nutrition and flavor. Aside from 3 daily meals, snacks are available all day. Fresh produce and daily caught fish such as Tuna, Mahi Mahi, and Snapper will keep you always energized and ready to go. You’ll relish in cuisine both local Indonesian style and your typical western favorites such as burgers and pastas.
The tender is a 4.2m rigid inflatable with a 40hp engine. Both for added safety and maneuverability, you’ll get around with ease to surf spots, beaches, fishing, and snorkeling. Gear on board for your use allows for activities apart from surfing, such as snorkel gear, fishing rods, and paddle boards. Making landfall to explore the islands and villages is also a good break from the water.
