Located in Asturias, Salinas y Espartal is an excellent stretch of beach break that offers up quick, consistent, barreling peaks up and down the beach. The waves here are straightforward to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom. Not the prettiest backdrop, but there are bars and shops in abundance nearby.
What are the best surf conditions for Salinas y Espartal?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here if small and a shortboard when the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will be crowded with some not-so-nice locals (7/10). The best winds are from the southeast. The best swells are from the North, Northwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a springsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 21 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best when water temperatures drop to 13 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
