Located in Loire Atlantique, France, Guidel is an excellent reef setup that breaks over a rock bottom. The waves here are hard to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a shallow rock shelf throwing out some excellent barrels.
What are the best surf conditions for Guidel?
Gets good from waist high to triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or a step-up here. This break is suitable only for advanced barrel riders. The surf here does not break often (3/10) and can get busy with bodyboarders at peak times (5/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Southwest and West. Works best on mid to high tides.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 wetsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 16 degrees. In winter a 4/3 is the best when water temperatures drop to 10 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
