Located in Southern Baja, Mexico, Punta Abreojos (Open your Eyes) is home to two right-hand point breaks that offer up long ropy barrels. The waves here are challenging to surf and break for up to 200 meters over rocky reefs. The main issue with this stretch of coast is the flies. There isn’t much relief.
What are the best surf conditions for Punta Abreojos?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if small and a shortboard then a step-up as the swells pick up. These breaks are suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the South or Southwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 29 degrees. In the winter a 3/2 is best when water temperatures drop to 18 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
