Located in Northern Baja, Mexico, Mushrooms is a fun right-hand reef break that offers up a punchy and hollow wave when the conditions line up. The waves here can be challenging to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a rocky reef. Can be a bit sketchy.
What are the best surf conditions for Mushrooms?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will get busy on weekends and holidays (5/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South and Southwest. Works on a mid to high tide.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 31 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best as water temperatures plunge to 16 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
