Located in Northern Baja, Las Gaviotas is a decent reef break that offers up some easygoing waves for beginners and longboarders. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a rocky bottom. Faces a guarded community which makes this a great family destination.
What are the best surf conditions for Las Gaviotas?
Gets good between waist-high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard if you have to when the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will get very crowded (8/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 31 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best when water temperatures drop to 16 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
