Belongil in Byron Bay is an average beach break just north of Byro Town. If you head left from Byron town along the beach or road, this area is called Belongil.
Can be bank dependant on banks. Due to it being a bit out of town you can get uncrowded waves here.
What are the best surf conditions for Belongil?
Gets good between head-high to overhead. Higher tide and southerly winds are the best conditions, especially if there is more than a couple of feet of swell. We recommend riding your longboard, standard shortboard here. Belongil in Byron is best suited to beginner to advanced surfers. It usually has a wave (5/10) and hardly ever crowded (3/10). The best swell direction is from the East.
