Located in Durban, South Africa, Cave Rock is an excellent big wave surf spot that throws out deep, cavernous right-hand barrels. The waves here are gnarly, shallow, and dangerous, breaking for up to 150 meters (492 feet) over a rock and sand bottom. Take care and be respectful to the locals.
What are the best surf conditions for Cave Rock?
Cave Rock gets good between double and triple overhead plus. A step up then a gun will be the move here as the size picks up. This break is good for advanced-level surfers. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will always have a highly competitive crew (7/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the Southeast. Works best on a mid to high tide.
