Located in Northern Baja, Mexico, Baja Malibu is a quality right-hand pointbreak that offers up spitting barrels at size and a rippable beach break when smaller. The waves here can get heavy and break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom. The main issue with this spot is the pollution that seems to always be in the water.
What are the best surf conditions for Baja Malibu?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller or a shortboard and step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (7/10) and will get very crowded (8/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Northwest, Southwest, or West. Works on a mid to low-tide best.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 31 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 is best when water temperatures drop to 16 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
