Located in Colima and Michoacan, Mexico, Cuyutlan is a beach break that usually is a shore break closeout, but at times offers up peaky barrels. The waves here are challenging to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Cuyutlan?
Gets good between waist-high and overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard then step up if bigger. This spot is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 30 degrees. In winter the attire is the same when water temperatures drop only to 25 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
