More on Rio Nexpa

Located in Colima and Michoacan, Mexico, Rio Nexpa is an excellent left-hand river mouth that offers up long tubing lefts over a boulder and sand bottom. The waves here can be challenging to surf and break for up to 200 meters. This spot used to be secret, but unfortunately crowds now abound.

What are the best surf conditions for Rio Nexpa?

Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard or step-up when the waves get serious. This spot is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (6/10) and will get very crowded (9/10). The best winds are from the North. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on a mid to low-tide best.
