Located in Colima/Michoacan, Mexico, La Ticla is an excellent river mouth that offers up lefts and rights that offer up zipping barrels when the conditions line up. The waves here are difficult to surf and jack up quickly over the cobblestone reef.
What are the best surf conditions for La Ticla?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard and then a step up as the size picks up. This break is good for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is very consistent (8/10) and will generally have a crew (6/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the Southwest. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year round. The water temperatures range from 30°C to 25°C (86°F to 77°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
