Located in Punta Hermosa, Peru, Caballeros is a quality right-hand point break that offers up reliable, rippable, and at times hollow sections. The waves here can be a bit tricky and break for up to 150 meters (about 492 feet) over a rock bottom. It has just the right amount of speed, not too fast, not too slow. The beach on the inside can be good for beginners, and the town has some good restaurants and nightlife.
What are the best surf conditions for Caballeros?
Caballeros gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller, then a shortboard or a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will always have a crew on it (7/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on a mid to high tide best.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in the summers when water temperatures rise to 20°C (about 68°F). In the winter, a 3/2 wetsuit is best when water temperatures drop to 16°C (about 61°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
