Located in the Galapagos, Ecuador, La Carola is a hollow Sunset-like righthander. This beautiful wave reels island-style power in warm blue water. Carola is considered one of the best surf spots in the Galapagos. The set-up breaks along a volcanic rock bottom in front of a lighthouse and little peninsula. The waves will break for up to 100 meters over that rock bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for La Carola?
Gets good between chest high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard then step up then your biggest board as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will get busy at peak times (5/10). The best winds are from the East or Southeast. The best swells are from the North or Northwest and big. Works on a low to mid tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year round. Water temperatures range between 27 and 25. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
