Located in Atacama, Chile, in a large national reserve, Agua Dulce is a fun, open beach that offers up some rippable walls when the smaller swells are around. The waves here can be challenging and break for up to 50 meters (164 feet) over a sand bottom. It’s a long drive, and you probably won’t find anyone.
What are the best surf conditions for Agua Dulce?
It gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard, then stepping up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will generally be uncrowded (2/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. It works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 wetsuit, in summer with the warmest water temperature at a brisk 15°C (59°F) in January. In winter, we recommend wearing a 5/4 wetsuit with temps being a chilly 11°C (52°F)! See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
