Located in Atacama, Chile, La Vedette is a quality left-hand point break that offers up standup barrels on the right swell. The waves here can be challenging and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a rock bottom. If the swell is too small, the beach to the north might hold the goods.
What are the best surf conditions for La Vedette?
La Vedette gets good between chest-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard, and then a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will generally be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 wetsuit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 15°C (59°F). In the winter, a 5/4 wetsuit is best when water temperatures drop to 11°C (51.8°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
