Located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Forte is a fun beach break that offers up some rippable sections when the swells line up. The waves here are not the easiest to surf and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a sand bottom. The crowds will be concentrated around the jetties.
What are the best surf conditions for Forte?
It gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard, then a step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will always be very crowded (8/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the East, South, and Southeast. It works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summers when water temperatures rise to 26°C (79°F). In the winter, a spring suit will work when water temperatures drop to 21°C (70°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
