Located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Brava is a pretty good reef break that offers up punchy, powerful right-handers. The waves here require some skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a rock and sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Brava?
It gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard, then a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will always have a crew (7/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the East. It works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summers when water temperatures rise to 26°C (79°F). In the winter, a springsuit will work when water temperatures drop to 21°C (70°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
