Located in Littoral Paulista, Brazil, Pauba is a quality beach break that starts working on big South or Southeast swells when it starts pumping out zippy barrels. The waves here require some skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a sand bottom. It will get crowded when good because everywhere else will be too big.
What are the best surf conditions for Pauba?
It gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard, then a step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is not the most consistent (4/10) and will get very crowded when it does (4/10). The best winds are from the North. The best swells are from the South and Southeast. It works on a low to mid-tide best.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round as water temperatures range between 29°C (84°F) and 26°C (79°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
