Located in Fernando de Noronha, Brazil, Sao Jose is a pretty good right point that sometimes offers up rippable waves. The waves here require some skill to surf and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a rock bottom. It’s a little island that it breaks around, and you’ll need to go on a low tide.
What are the best surf conditions for Sao Jose?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is inconsistent (2/10) and will be uncrowded (4/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Northwest. Works on a low to mid tide.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures vary between 29°C (84°F) and 27°C (81°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
