In front of the beautiful coastal village of Pipa is the little gem, Lajao. It is the longest wave in the area, and also consistent. The main wave is a right, that on it’s day, barrels across a flat rock point. On some swells, there can be left peaks. On the crowded days, patience is key. The best surf are groundswells from the Northeast, with offshore winds out of the West Southwest.
The water temperature is about 27 °C/ 80.6 °F year-round. Swell size starts at 3ft and generally reaches 6ft. The right works best from December to March on North and NorthEast swells. There are right and left peaks on the South to SouthEast swells from June to September. It works best on high tide, protected from the dominant winds.
