Located in Monterey County, California, Lover’s Point is a fun left-hand point break that offers up some mushier waves when small but big rippable walls on bigger swells. The waves here are straightforward to surf and break for up to 200 meters over a rock bottom. Locals here don’t take too kindly to outsiders, keep a low profile.
What are the best surf conditions for Lover’s Point?
Gets good between chest high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard when small and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is not the most consistent (4/10) and will generally have a crew on it (8/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the Northwest. Works on a low to mid tide.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 in the summer when water temperatures rise to 15 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temperatures drop to 12 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
