Located in Lampung, West Sumatra, Mandiri is a peaky beach break (also a swell magnet here) that offers up some good, punchy sections for tearing into. The waves here are straightforward to surf with none of the consequences of a sharp reef, breaking for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Mandiri?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard then step up when bigger. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer, especially when smaller. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will generally have a crew on it (7/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides depending on the sandbanks.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. The water temperatures rise to 29 in the summer and drop to 25 in the winter. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
