Located on the Addu Atoll, Indian Ocean, Shangri La is a world class right hand reef break that offers up some amazing, rippable sections as the wave break for up to 200 meters over a coral reef. It is still up in the air whether or not the resort will bar non guests from surfing here, if you can surf it. This is one of the best waves on Addu.
What are the best surf conditions for Shangri La?
Gets good between waist high and dobule overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard then step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here usually has something to ride (5/10) and will get busy depending on how many guests are in the resort (5/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South, Southeast, and Southwest and hopefully very clean. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year round as water temperatures fluctuate between 28 and 30 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
