More on Carrapateira

Located in South Algarve, Portugal, Carrapateira is a quality beach break that offers up some good sections for turns and hacks. The waves here can be challenging and break for up to 50 meters over a rock and sand bottom. There is also a right that breaks off of a large rock and low to mid tides.

What are the best surf conditions for Carrapateira?

We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard when the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will get pretty crowded at times (8/10). The best swells are from the North, Northwest, Southwest, and West. The best winds are from the East. Works best on a low to mid tide.
