Located North of Peniche, Portugal, Belgas is a quality reef break that offers up a great right-hand, barreling wave. The break here can be difficult to surf and the waves travel for up to 200 meters over the rocky bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Belgas?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard when the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the North, Northwest, and West. Works best on a low to mid-tide.
We recommend wearing a 3/2 in the summer when water temps rise to 19 degrees. In the winter the same suit will be fine as water temps drop to 14 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
