Located in Alentejo, Northern Algarve, Portugal, Porto Covo is a small town that has a collection of beach break coves to the north offering up some good performance-based waves. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom. There is also a reef South of town that offers up some longer, mellower rides.
What are the best surf conditions for Porto Covo?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here if smaller and a shortboard when the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will have a few heads on it (6/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the North, Northwest, Southwest, and West. Works on all tides.
