Les Cavaliers is Anglet’s best-known surf spot and easily competes with Hossegor famous beach breaks. Its world-class barrels attract surfers from all around the world. There is a live camera if you want to check the conditions before giving it a go.
Being more exposed to the swell than its neighbours, Les Cavaliers is a classic venue for contests. When it is flat elsewhere, there you can almost always find a little something to surf. The wave is very consistent and offers beautiful A-frames, perfect for intermediate and advanced surfers . However, during summertime, it doesn’t prevent the surf schools from invading the spot when the swell is under 3ft.
Les Cavaliers starts working from 1ft and can hold up to 12ft+ depending on the wind and swell direction. The wave is hollow and fast and reaches its full potential at low tide. Forget about it on high tide. Be also aware that Les Cavaliers sometimes suffers industrial and residential pollution.
