Located in Tenerife, Canary Islands, La Izquierda/Spanish Left is an excellent left-hand reef break that puts up a steep, sucky barrel into a very high-performance wall. The waves here are challenging to surf and the crowd difficult to navigate, breaking for up to 100 meters over a rocky reef anchoring some sand. The reef is sharp and locals mean, take care.
What are the best surf conditions for La Izquierda/Spanish Left?
Gets good between chest-high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard tor a step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is somewhat consistent (6/10) and will get very crowded (8/10). The best winds are from the East. The best swells are from the Northwest and West. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing a spring suit in the summer when water temperatures rise to 22 degrees. In the winter a 3/2 is best when water temperatures drop to 17. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
