Located in Chile, El Muro is a quality right-hand point break that offers up a long ride broken up into three different sections, with the fastest of those sections being along the outside at Cabañas. The waves here are challenging to surf and break for up to 200 meters (656 feet) over a rock bottom. Generally, you’ll be finding rippable conditions here. Local knowledge shows that the water can get a bit dirty during summer.
What are the best surf conditions for El Muro?
It gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard, then step up as the size increases. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced-level surfers. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will always have a crew (7/10). The best winds are from the Northeast. The best swells are from the South, Southwest, and West. It works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini, plus a wetsuit top in strong winds, in summer with the warmest water temperature with cooler temps in January. In winter, we recommend wearing a 4/3 wetsuit with temps being a brisk 15°C (59°F)! See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
