Located in Eastern Oaxaca, Mexico, Punta Chivo is a pretty decent point break that offers up some easygoing waves perfect for longboarders or learners. The waves here are easy to surf and break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom. Home to one of the only surf schools in the area.
What are the best surf conditions for Punta Chivo?
Gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller or a shortboard when the size really picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will get busy (8/10). The best winds are from the Northwest. The best swells are from the South, Southeast, or Southwest. Works on a mid to high tide.
We recommend wearing board shorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 31 degrees. In the winter a 4/3 might be necessary when water temps drop to 16 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
