More on Witches Rock (Playa Naranjo)
Located in the Guanacaste region, Costa Rica, Witches Rock is one of the best beach breaks in all of Central America. The waves are ultra rippable and at times hollow, breaking toward a massive rock known as Roca Bruja, or Witch’s Rock. Most of the surfing is done just to the South of the river mouth and a short walk further South will generally be a little less crowded. The waves here can be challenging and break for up to 100 meters over a sand bottom. The only way is by a good 4×4 track through the national park and then camping or a boat from Playa Coco. The biggest hazards are saltwater crocs near the river mouth.
