Located in Kwazulu Natal – North, South Africa, Umdloti is a quality stretch of beach break with a series of reefs that offer up some barreling peaks, especially in the winter. The waves here require skill to surf and break for up to 150 meters (492 feet) over a rock and sand bottom.
What are the best surf conditions for Umdloti?
Umdloti gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard then step up as the size arrives. This break is good for all levels of surfer depending on the size. The surf here is pretty consistent (6/10) and will always have a crew (7/10). The best winds are from the Southwest and West. The best swells are from the South. Works best on a low to mid-tide.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summers when water temperatures rise to 26 degrees Celsius (78.8 degrees Fahrenheit).
