The waves here are straightforward to surf and break for up to 100 meters (328 feet) over a rock and sand bottom. Locals here are protective and will make sure you know you are not from there.
What are the best surf conditions for Tongaat Beach?
Tongaat Beach gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard then step up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here usually has a wave (5/10) and will always have a crew (7/10). The best winds are from the North, Northeast, and Northwest. The best swells are from the South. Works best on a mid to low tide.
