Located in Savu, Indonesia, Savu Right is a world-class (yes right hand) reef break that offers up a long, perfect barrel when the conditions line up. Needs a massive swell to wrap mixed with good NE winds, a rare combo. The waves here are heavy and break for up to 300 meters over a shallow coral reef. If going here bring your water, food, and patience.
What are the best surf conditions for Savu Right?
Gets good between waist high and triple overhead. We recommend riding a shortboard or a step-up as the size picks up. This break is suitable for intermediate and advanced level surfers. The surf here does not break often (3/10) and will be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the Southeast. The best swells are from the Southwest and West and BIG. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini year-round. Water temperatures rise to 28 degrees in the summer before dropping to 25 degrees in the winter. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
