Located in Northwest Wales, Borth/Ynyslas is a good beach break that offers up some decent waves for manoeuvres when the conditions line up. The waves here are pretty easy to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a sand bottom. Watch out for rusted groynes at high tides and fossilised forests at super low ones.
What are the best surf conditions for Borth/Ynyslas?
Gets good between waist high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard here when smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is not super consistent (4/10) and will usually have a crew on it (6/10). The best winds are from the East, both ends are sheltered from SW winds. The best swells are from the Southwest and West. Works on mid to high tides best.
We recommend wearing a 4/3 here in the summer when water temperatures rise to 16 degrees. In the winter a 5/4 is best when water temperatures drop to 8 degrees. See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
