Located in South Piura, Peru, Punta Aguja is a fun series of bays and beach breaks (at least the coastline around the point is) that offer up some rippable peaks in most conditions. The waves here can be challenging to surf and break for up to 50 meters over a rock and sand bottom. Expect colder temps south of here.
What are the best surf conditions for Punta Aguja?
Punta Aguja gets good between waist-high and double overhead. We recommend riding a longboard if smaller and a shortboard as the size picks up. This break is suitable for all levels of surfer. The surf here is consistent (7/10) and will generally be uncrowded (3/10). The best winds are from the southeast. The best swells are from the northwest, south, southwest, and west. Works on all tides.
We recommend wearing boardshorts or a bikini in the summer when water temperatures rise to 25°C (77°F). In the winter, a spring suit is best when water temperatures drop to 21°C (70°F). See the temperature chart below for more data on this.
